Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) and the Weatherford Rotary Club have selected Mesa Darlene Flippo the newest SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholar.

Flippo is a Freshman at SWOSU from Geary, Oklahoma majoring in English with a minor in World Languages.

The SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholarship was conceptualized by Dr. Tugba Sevin, world languages coordinator in the SWOSU Department of Language & Literature, and established through joint funding provided by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc., and the Weatherford Rotary Club.

The scholarship benefits students studying in the Department of Language & Literature who have designated world languages as a minor degree component.

“Our World Languages studies are a dynamic part of what we offer students in the SWOSU Language & Literature Department,” SWOSU President Dr. Diana Lovell said. “We are so grateful to Weatherford Rotary and the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. for making this financial assistance to our students possible, and we are thrilled to congratulate Mesa Flippo on being named the newest SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholar.”

The SWOSU-Weatherford Rotary Club World Languages Scholarship is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. The foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU.
