Dr. Joe Anna Hibler of Weatherford has made a major charitable gift to the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) Music Academy.

The SWOSU Music Academy offers students of all ages in the community a chance to grow and learn about instrumental and vocal music. Group and private lessons are taught throughout the school year by SWOSU Music majors and faculty. The Academy also includes summer camp programs for middle school and high school students. Donations made to the program provide scholarships for students from low-income households to attend the Academy. More information about the SWOSU Music Academy can be found at www.SWOSUCamps.com.

“The SWOSU Music Academy Faculty are thrilled with the news of this generous gift from Dr. Hibler,” Said Kristin Griffeath, SWOSU Music Academy Faculty Director. “This incredible financial support is funding scholarships for students this spring who might not have otherwise been able to enroll for musical instruction.  We look forward to supporting additional students in the future through Dr. Hibler’s donation, bringing the positive, transformative power of music to more families here in Western Oklahoma.  We are extremely grateful for Dr. Hibler’s amazing gift.”

Dr. Joe Anna Hibler was the 15th President of SWOSU. She also has served as a Regent of theRegional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) and has served on the governing boards of the Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma United Methodist Foundation, and the Wesley Foundation. Hibler is a Founder-level investor in the SWOSU Bulldog Angels Fund and has generously endowed the W. D. & Bess Hibler Endowment at the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. She is a 2003 Inductee into the SWOSU Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
