Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has received a significant gift from alumnus and benefactor Mike Muncy of Norman, Oklahoma, to enhance the development and advancement of the SWOSU Center for Rural Health.

Muncy, a 1977 graduate of SWOSU and an Emeritus Trustee of the SWOSU Foundation, Inc., has long demonstrated a deep commitment to the university and its mission. His latest contribution reinforces that legacy while addressing one of Oklahoma’s most pressing needs—access to quality healthcare in rural communities.

The gift will provide essential equipment for the new Rural Health Center, directly supporting student training and expanding services offered through the community clinic. The program is located within the new Jerry & Margaret Hodge Center for Pharmacy and Rural Health on the SWOSU Weatherford campus.

“Mike Muncy’s generous support represents a significant investment in the future of rural healthcare,” said Dr. Kalie Kerth, Director of the Rural Health Center. “His contribution allows us to equip the Rural Health Center with essential supplies and equipment to train students in chronic disease prevention and diabetes education, areas that are vital to improving health outcomes in our communities. In addition, this support strengthens our community clinic services, ensuring that patients across rural western Oklahoma receive the care and critical supplies they need to better manage their health. This gift will have a lasting impact, not only on the students we educate, but on the countless individuals and families they will serve across rural Oklahoma.”
