Alyssa Wood Awarded SWOSU’s Joyce Adams Curtis Scholarship

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has named Alyssa Wood of Ardmore, Oklahoma, as the Joyce Adams Curtis Scholar for the 2025-26 Academic Year. 

Wood is a freshman majoring in Vocal Music Education.

The Joyce Adams Curits Scholarship was established by Rev. Torrey Curtis in memory of his wife, Joyce.

Joyce served as a SWOSU instructor of voice and director of the SWOSU Women’s Chorus from 2001 to 2012.

This scholarship is presented annually to a vocal student or students of exceptional talent and potential and is chosen by the vocal music faculty.

The Joyce Adams Curtis Scholarship is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. The Foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy, award scholarships, and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU.
